About Me

I am a recognized AI expert and leader with extensive experience in top technical leadership positions at the U.S. Department of Defense. I previously served as Director of the Capability Delivery Directorate at the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), where I led organizations of over 500 military officers, civilians, and contractors in developing breakthrough artificial intelligence applications for national security.

In these leadership roles, I directed some of the most challenging AI projects in the Department of Defense, including the development of AI capabilities for critical warfighting functions, the creation of enterprise services and platforms, and leadership for core technical divisions and technical strategy. I previously served as the Chief of the Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Engineering Division at the JAIC.

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Harvard University, where I was advised by Professor H. T. Kung. I was also a Non-Resident Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs in the Cybersecurity Project. I conducted research in both computer science and public policy.

My Ph.D. research focused on artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, computer and wireless networking (with a focus on 5G wireless networks), distributed computing, and sparse coding. My public policy research focuses on technology policy and cybersecurity, examining the public policy implications of machine learning/artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things, as well as structural issues in regulating technical domains.

I graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in Computer Science and Statistics from Harvard University as an undergraduate. I was named a 2020 Siebel Scholar in September 2019, recognizing academic excellence and leadership.

I've spoken broadly as a renowned expert on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and national security. Please take a look at my publications page to learn more about my research.

I formerly served as the Head of Fellowship Advising for Kirkland House at Harvard University. Under my leadership, my team successfully advised multiple Rhodes Scholar awardees. I also served as a Resident Tutor in Computer Science there.
